Grand Central Station, Midtown, East
Side,
06/24/2008 - One of new York's more underrated cultural institutions. The displays in the Gallery are usually cutting
edge and from Scandinavia. For example now through August 15th there is a display of Icelandic art that is well worth
taking a look at. They also sell sweets and chocolate from Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Some items we've found
here are Freia chocolate bars, Lars Ginger Snaps and sweets from Fazer. Check both the gift shop, in the back on the
ground floor and the small restaurant in the lobby. Over the last few years we have stumbled across a variety of
Scandinavian sweets most of which have been quite tasty. The restaurant, AQ Cafe, is operated by Restaurant
Aquavit, and the menu is designed by  executive chef Marcus Samuelsson. The prices are very reasonable and this is
a cool place for a quick midtown lunch.
