Neuhaus is another fine chocolatier out of Belgium.  We find many of the pieces to have a slightly buttery consistency
which gives them a smooth feel on the tongue.  Of course the firm has been around since 1857 which has given them
plenty of time to perfect their craft.  New York has a tremendous array of available chocolate and to rate each store
seems almost silly.  That being said if you were to divide the shops into tiers in our opinion Neuhaus would be in the top
tier with a handful of others. We've always loved the Pralines especially the Madison (Praline with fresh butter and
feuilletine) , the Bonaparte (Praline with almonds and hazelnuts) and the Sapho (a simple Almond Praline). Other items
we've enjoyed are the Cornet Dore, (Piped Almonds and Hazelnut Gianduja) this is a nice looking item and we've found
a small box of them makes a nifty gift, the Manon Sucre Vanille (Toffee, Walnut and Vanilla Sugar) and the Manon Noir
(Chocolate Mousse).  Whereas many chocolatiers handle chocolate well what really sets Neuhaus off from the others is
their ability to work with liquor.  Where else would one find a Truffe Cognac (Cognac Butter Cream with Almond Chips)
so delightful it's hard to describe.
