This place is cavernous and a mess. The prices are low and they carry all sorts of items for the home. They have some
"regular" candy, Hershey bars etc., that are priced a little bit below average retail and they have some off brand candy
bars that are inexpensive. The reason to drop in is for the oddball chocolate that shows up. Who knew that Almond Joy
had experimented with a Key Lime flavor. They did and on a recent visit, April 2006, you could purchase a bag of
miniatures.  A few shelves down, Hershey Nuggets with Macadamia Nuts. Add to this strange chocolate visiting from the
far corners of the world and you have an experimenters heaven. On this visit we found Harringtons Irish Cream and
Hazelnut Thins imported from the United Kingdom. From Belgium an assortment manufactured by Choco-Sweet. From
Macedonia Apricot and Strawberry Pralines cooked up by Evropa. Of course you need more than one company from
Macedonia represented so they also have boxes of Atlantis Choco Seashells from Vitaminka. How about a 12 ounce box
for $4.99 of chocolate covered cherries from Croatia from the Kras Company. Other Kras offerings include the Novela (
Hazelnut ) assortment and the Intermezzo assortment. We tried a box of the Novela and they seemed fairly fresh and
we've tasted worse but we can't testify to the freshness of all of the product. Still all in all this is one of the stranger
places to buy chocolate in New York and if you're not to squeamish worth a look.
Any comments or suggestions, and let us know what you're thinking.
