The latest contender from Belgium Pierre Marcolini has opened an extremely attractive store on Park Avenue. We had
never had the opportunity to sample his wares until his recent opening here but we're glad to have finally been able to
avail ourselves of some of his creations. Our favorite so far is The Citron (Tea and Lemon in a Dark Chocolate
Fondant). His Intense is just about as dark as Dark Chocolate can get and lives up to its name. The Java Fondant is
pretty nice and has a sharp coffee taste that lingers. The Escargot is a White Chocolate snail shell with a caramel cream
that is quite delicious. The Massepin Pistache is Dark Chocolate and Pistachio and has a nutty complex taste.
Mr. Marcolini has won a bunch of Pastry awards in Belgium and after working our way through some of his work we are
tempted to fly to Brussels and start eating.
