This large two level space is always a bit crowded as it is probably the most popular sweet shop in Manhattan. With a video monitor showing old candy commercials, an interesting display of vintage candy artifacts in the basement and topical music such as Sugar Sugar by the Archies playing in the background this place is fun, fun, fun. The quality of the chocolate is a bit spotty, it runs the gamut from staples such as Nonpareils, Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Bridge Mix to some higher end items they seem to be trying out. Don't let this dissuade you from paying a visit as the selection of packaged sweets is top notch and the candy bins are overflowing with a tremendous variety of everything from multiple flavors of M&M's to just about every Jelly Bean imaginable. The service is excellent, considering the volume of customers who pour through the door the bins are always freshly stocked and the employees - mostly teenagers - are always courteous and attentive to the customers needs. On a recent visit July 1 we found Dylan's had a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory display which includes a few props from the movie. The display also includes all sorts of signage from the movie and stacks upon stacks of candy from the Willy Wonka line A definite must visit if you have kids in tow or are stocking up for a trip to the cinema.
